Cleaning Soft Lenses Continued

Using enzyme cleaning solutions

To remove protein deposits that build up and make lenses hazy and uncomfortable, you may have to soak your lenses periodically in an enzyme solution. Your practitioner will tell you how often to do this. Enzyme cleaners come as tablets to be dissolved in saline solution, or in a pre-mixed solution. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

Storing your lenses

Place your lenses in your storage case and cover with plenty of the recommended solution. If a soft lens dries out, it will shrivel up and can break easily. Once a dried lens has been rehydrated (re-wet) in the recommended solution, check it for rips or tears, and clean and disinfect it before putting it back in your eye. Never store soft lenses in tap water, mineral water or anything other than sterile soft lens solution.
