| Cleaning Soft Lenses |
How to clean your soft lenses
Clean, disinfect and store your lenses properly and you will be
rewarded with more comfortable lens wear and you will maintain
healthy eyes. Your lens care system -- the group of cleaning and
disinfecting products your practitioner recommends at the time you
are fitted for contact lenses -- has been selected based on the type
of lenses prescribed and your lifestyle. Since the solutions within
the system are designed to work together, it is critical to use
these products as directed. Each time you remove your contacts, you
must clean and disinfect them:
- Wash and dry your hands.
- Place the lens in the palm of your hand.
- Squeeze some daily cleaner into your palm.
- Rub both surfaces of the lens in the cleaner in a straight
back-and-forth motion and in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.
- Rinse the lens throughly with a commercial sterile saline or
rinsing solution. (Never use homemade solutions or tap water.
They may contain orgasims that cause infection.)
- Now you are ready to disinfect your lenses. Follow the
manufacturer's instructions carefully.
